Awe Dropping event on September 9

Apple is scheduling another “Apple Event” for September 9, at 10 a.m. PT. This event will be keenly watched by tech gurus, import/export experts, tariff watchers, Wall Street junkies, and almost everyone else, as it will be Apple’s first big technical extravaganza since the tariffs went into effect.

Expected are details on the release of new software: macOS 26 Tahoe, iOS 26 for the iPhone, iPadOS 26 for the iPad, watchOS 26 for the Apple Watch, tvOS 26 for Apple TV, and visionOS for the Apple Vision Pro. These various operating systems have been in beta testing for months, and iPad enthusiasts, in particular, are eager to get iPadOS 26, which is a radical step up for the iPad.

On the hardware front, rumors say that Apple will announce at least a couple new versions of the iPhone. There have been sporadic reports of other hardware announcements, but it is unclear how much of that is based on fact and how much is based on wishful thinking.

You can watch the presentation on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac using the Apple TV app, or, if you have an Apple TV, you can watch it live on your TV. It will also be available as a recording a few hours after the event, if Apple follows past practices.

Apple Event “Scary Fast” on October 30, 2023

Apple will host an “Apple Event” on Monday, October 30, at 5 p.m. Pacific Time. The time is odd, since this is after the East Coast networks have made their nightly newscasts, and the major papers have gone to bed.

No details are offered, except it is being called “Scary Fast.”  The logo for the event is clever: an Apple logo turning into a Halloween style pumpkin.

You can watch it on Apple TV, or presumably in a browser window from the Apple site. Rumors suggest the event will be used to announce a new MacBook Pro, and possibly a revised iMac.

We will undoubtedly talk about the event at the Strait Macintosh User Group meeting on November 21.

Apple special event: speed

Apple sent out an invitation today to a special event on October 13, 2020, 10 a.m. Pacific Time.

This is the sum total of what they are revealing at this time:

Possibilities:

  • Apple will announce its long-awaited hovercar.
  • Apple will announce the launch of its own space venture, competing with Space X, and Blue Origin, and Virgin Galactic.
  • Apple will announce its surprise entry into competitive bicycle racing.
  • Apple will announce its own gigabit-per-second Internet service.
  • Apple will announce a really fast computer using Apple Silicon.
  • Apple will announce it has purchased the rights to a 1994 film featuring Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock, and Dennis Hopper.
  • Apple will do something else.

You should be able to watch the event on any Internet-connected Apple device, but if you have an Apple TV, I highly recommend watching it on your big screen TV.
